the thing about having a ‘one true pairing’ or a ‘ship’ that people in the ~real world~ would probably find hard to understand, is that you’re just genuinely passionate enough about two fictional characters that they inspire you; they make you want to create and imagine and dream and i honestly don’t care if it’s crazy to most people, but i probably would’ve stopped writing a long time ago if it hadn’t been for the characters i’ve watched grow together on television and in films and in plays, in a number of mediums really. i’m hoping they’ll help me to gradually make my way into more original work, but everyone has to start somewhere

and when i say OTP i don’t strictly mean pairings in terms of romantic love, i mean friendships, i mean relationships that make you feel like there has to be someone out there for you—whether it be a loyal sidekick like samwise gamgee or a sibling like dean winchester or a best friend like buffy summers

and all of these fictional relationships we treasure began with a writer and a pen or a laptop or even just a passing idea

and from all that came so much more from all of us; i think it’s kind of amazing that those of us in fandom can take these character dynamics and do so many great things with them, and bond over them as a community of people who love characters who love each other.

MERWAINE

I am going to ~publicize~ this ask if you don’t mind, Nicole, because I’ve discussed a few of these pairings with various other people and I HAVE FEELS.

Clint/Darcy I never actually knew was a thing until this very second. But I could actually see it. I don’t know if it’s weird but I sort of ship Darcy with everyone because she’s one of those characters who would complement anyone she’s with, romantic or otherwise. I wish she had a bigger role in the Thor series ‘cause she’s badass on her own too.

NATASHA/BUCKY. HOW DO I EVEN EXPLAIN MY FEELS. I really need to read more involving the Winter Soldier because that means more Natasha/Bucky and I absolutely adore them. I really hope they address their storyline in Captain America 2. What I love is you’d think they’d be an unlikely couple but they’re really not. They are PERFECTION.

Bucky/Peggy/Steve I never knew I wanted until just now but to me it’s more like Bucky/Peggy/Steve/Bucky in this gigantic three-way angsty circle. Mostly because Peggy and Bucky each bring out different qualities in Steve. All good qualities.

Tony/Pepper. Pepperony. In the comics it’s not canon and tbh if it weren’t for the amazing chemistry between RDJ and Gwyneth Paltrow in the films I wouldn’t care either way. But I do. Because MCU!Pepperony gives me feels. But I also ship Pepper/Happy so. MINE IS A DIFFICULT LIFE.

I am curious to know your thoughts on the above pairings as well
