OFFICIAL Merlin Series 5 trailer.
(I cannot take any credit for the video.)
Okay, here’s the deal—I’m trying not to be excited about this. Mostly because if you add together all the seasons and the time-jumps it’ll be ten years Merlin and Arthur have known each other, and their relationship, more or less, is still at this ridiculous standstill. That is what frustrates me the most. The room the writers do not leave for character and relationship development which is so important to a TV show—especially one like Merlin, which takes characters that have been around for centuries and makes them its own.
But this trailer, I gotta say, looks pretty boss. I nearly cried with the “Hello, my lady” encounter between Morgana and Gwen—look at how the tables have turned. These two started out as true friends despite Gwen’s lower social stature. And now it’s all flipped—Gwen is queen, and Morgana has been cast from society. I’m dying to know how they treat this dynamic, now.
And of of course: “I swear I will protect you or die at your side.” JUST. CAN I JUST. THE MERTHUR IS STILL THERE. I REALLY HOPE THE WRITERS DO THIS RIGHT.
Must. Not. Be. Excited. Must. Not. Be. EXCITED.
