Don't go where I can't follow.
Anonymous: The Italian one, for sure. I think it's the most original and the letters could really flow with the natural movement of your skin and body really well.

Thanks for the opinion, anon! I think I’m gradually narrowing it down to “chi cerca trova” or “awake and unafraid.”

Why, anon! This message was truly unexpected—but greatly appreciated. Messages like these are what get me through the day, sometimes. <3 Thanks for putting up with my roller coaster of a blog. You’re lovely and I’m very grateful for your kind words.

Well, firstly: welcome to Merlin fandom, anon! Everything is usually gay and Merthur and rainbows, except recently, the rainbows have been replaced by rain clouds of PAIN. I recommend that you go back and watch all the episodes you haven’t seen yet, just because they might cheer you up a bit. The rest of us who’ve been watching the show for years weren’t prepared for the writers to finally give us the beauty that is Merlin and Arthur’s relationship displayed in full force, so, yeah—what you’re feeling as a newcomer is what we’re feeling too.

I hope you enjoyed the fic. It was a little fix-it I felt I needed to do. I’m writing a sequel in another window as I type this, which is heavy on the angst. :D

TBH, I’m glad that the finale inspired you to watch the show. The finale, in much of the fandom’s opinion, was the best episode ever, and I’m glad it drew you to one of my favorite shows ever. <3

Best of luck with all your feelings. I’m with you through it all. *hugs*

Anonymous: God, I love your icon

Thank you! I just made it. I also just changed my layout and made the sidebar image.

I figure I’m gonna be a mostly Merlin-centered blog again (which hasn’t really happened since I was je-suis-loser on here) for a little while. I’ll post other things too, but I want to pay tribute to the show for a bit. <3

Anonymous: merlin fucking sucks.. how the hell do you even like that show?! unfollow.

I can’t say I disagree with you, anon-who-will-never-see-this-because-they-unfollowed (it’s true—I am one follower less. But if it’s someone who sends rude messages and unfollows on the basis of irrationally hating someone for something they like, then I think I’m the better for it). Merlin often does suck, but the great thing about the fandom is that despite everything, we hold out a great deal of hope for it, even at the very end. Because it’s helped us to meet some fantastic people, and for some of us, it’s provided a means of escape that you just can’t find anywhere else.

I started watching Merlin in my senior year of high school, and it helped me make the huge transition from high school to college. When my gramma died, it provided a lighthearted form of escapism that some of the more weighty (albeit wonderful) shows I watch, like Buffy, couldn’t always provide. There’s also the awesome cast, the reason that the bulk of us Merliknights even watch to begin with.

For 42 minutes, Merlin makes me believe there’s such thing as magic in this world, or even if there isn’t, at the very least there’s hope for a brighter future and the bond of friendship and loyalty. And that there are people like Merlin out there to befriend me along life’s journey, or maybe leaders like King Arthur who will shape this world for the better.

TV shows can mean something different to each person. You could say that about anything—movies, stories, poetry—and if Merlin is too distractingly bad for you to understand why others like it, then I respect that.

But it means something to me, despite everything. It means something to a lot of us. And I think that’s worthy of an equal amount of respect.
